I don’t envy anyone tasked with identifying the politician that perpetrates the most pork projects. Sensibly, Citizens Against Government Waste usually puts it to a vote, and the winner of the “Porker of the Year” title is none other than Massachusetts’ own Barney Frank.
Some of the achievements on his roster:
Frank earned the distinction for his role as House financial-services committee chairman during the worst financial crisis in decades. The group says he took no responsibility for the crisis despite making bone-headed comments like, “Let’s roll the dice on subsidized housing” in a 2003 New York Times article, then suggesting earlier this year that it was time to scrap Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and “leave it to the government.”
“He became a kind of a poster child for the financial meltdown,” a spokeswoman for the group said. “For many, he’s a porcine representation of wasteful spending in Washington,” she added.
Of course, this is the point where both Jason and I have our eyes glaze over as we start thinking about miscellaneous fatty delicacies. And I love that CNBC’s Cindy Perman knows this and asked me to weigh in:
“When it comes to pork, Barney Frank has committed indulgences that are the budgetary equivalent of Vosges bacon chocolate,” said Alyx Kaczuwka, a bacon lover and author of the blog LOLFed.com, referring to the chocolate-covered-bacon delicacy.
So yes, when you need a meaty quote – call on LOLFed. Om nom nom nom.

Porker of the year…seems appropriate…on two counts.
Wasn’t it Barney Frank who was Ned Beatty’s stunt double in the movie “Deliverance”???

yeah cept Barney was for subsidised RENTAL multi-unit dwellings…
not for single family homes that average earners could not afford.
It was BUSH who relentlessly pushed home owenership.. as a way to make republicans out of poor people.
