Saturn Shoved Up Uranus

Yeah, so all that business about Roger Penske stepping in and rescuing clown car manufacturer Saturn? Not so much. That deal sort of fell apart near the last minute and, because this is steaming pile of crap Saturn, GM is giving up, shutting the brand (some would say it’s been Pontiac’d) and closing down the dealer network.

Penske had been in talks with an unnamed (but definitely Asian) automaker to take over production of Saturns after a couple of years of GM building them under contract. But that got a lot harder when the unnamed (probably Japanese) automaker read the fine print and saw that they would be building Saturns of all things, and decided their energies would be better spent elsewhere besides damaging the unnamed (might have been Toyota) automaker’s sterling reputation.

So farewell, Saturn. Sorry you sucked.
