From everywhere: Bernie Madoff’s sentencing was held today, and he’s been given what sounds like a whopping 150 years in prison, which, if he were to serve the full term, would leave him in jail up to the ripe old age of 221, in the year 2159. This sentence might make you feel better for a second or two, but, as Jason pointed out, it works out to about 3 years for every billion he stole – or approx $45MM a day.
Which, seriously, is not that bad, especially when it’s (as Denis Leary would say about smoking) 3 years off the end of your life. Give me a bil now and I’ll do three years in the pen when I’m 71.

With time off for good behavior, he’ll probably be out in 10 years or so (if he hasn’t died).

You going to get much better Nursing home care in prison that a state run nursing home. For all the poor people with no retirment in a state run nursing home have it much worse than in prison. He is truly a smart man.
