Any of my fellow US taxpayers still reeling? A few stories that might ease the pain:
- Ponzi or no Ponzi, at least Allen Stanford still has his girlfriend’s mom to fall back on.
- There’s now a medical marijuana company trading on the pink sheets, with a far too innocuous ticker.
- Montel can sell! The former talk-show host is now shilling everything from a Snuggie-clone to doct0r discount cards. (Check out the gallery. Random.)
- Speaking of as-seen-on-tv goods, CNBC will soon be bringing us a documentary on some of our favorite products. What do you call this kind of journalism? Snuggumentary? ShamWowstigative reporting?
- Speaking of CNBC, Howard Lindzon gets banned from CNBC, returns the favor.
- Bank of America employees’ heartwarming cover of U2′s “One”. (To quote Lambert Strether: “The part about ‘we get to carry each other’ rings especially true for me.”)
- Philadelphia: Take my ex-cons… please?
- “Lehman Shokku” translates roughly to “the land of the Rising Sun can now be viewed from a cardboard box under a bridge.”
- Cindy Perman finds out that new car deals, like unicorns, are mythical.
- Would you buy a used car-insurance unit from this failbank? Really, I’m glad someone is. It’s nice to see them collecting money from a source other than the US government for once.

My tax day was awesome. Stayed up until 2 am amending my 2007 return and then filing for my 2008 muneez.
Got a letter from the IRS last month about being unable to determine the cost basis of the options I unloaded and they wanted a big check. Figured I effed up the return (in Turbo Tax – TIMMAY!). Fixed it and owed a few sheckles less.
Started the 2008 return and couldn’t find the oldest kid listed. I must’ve deleted her at 5 am last year on tax day.
Went back to the 2007 return, amended again – and BINGO! – now I’m owed more refund.
Thanks, IRS!
