Michael Moore got lost on the way to the buffet this morning, and ended up at a meeting of the Senate Finance Committee regarding TARP:

Moore wore his trademark baseball cap, standing out among the sea of suits. He sat in the third row, chatting with a dark-haired man as TARP cop Neil Barofsky, Elizabeth Warren, who as Congressional Oversight Panel head is overseeing the banking bailout, and U.S. acting comptroller general and Government Accountability Office chief Gene Dodaro addressed lawmakers.

Moore’s busily working on Bankfail: The Movie, as if we are all going to want to flock to a theater to spend two hours reliving the screwjob we’ve been getting for the last year.

Now, a stack of added fail.

- AIG’s grand strategy: 1) Unwind your portfolio as fast as possible for a massive loss. 2) ??? 3) Profit. Step #3 is at your expense, and is actually a profit for C, GS and everyone else who reported a profitable January and February.

- Dealbreaker plays Maxine Waters Bingo. (with h/t to self-evident)

- Unique budgeting strategy: carry around nothing but hundos, as we’re psychologically disinclined to break large bills (not to mention, you know no one is gonna have change for it). Best quote in the article: “From a recession-fighting perspective, however, self-control is Satan.”

- Latest fail from the banks: foreclosing on houses they don’t even want.

- As a corollary, how do you get a squatter out of your recently acquired property? Give him five hundo. Cheaper than litigation and it’s the least you can do to thank them for keeping the vandals out while you waited through the foreclosure.

- Bo knows… banking? Yeah, the ex-pro baseball and football player is now director of a bank ouside Chicago. When asked about his experience, he says “[I]t’s fun trying out something I don’t know jack about.”

- Obama quote du jour.

-Ask A Taxpayer:  Mary Wynne gets the difference between “mark to market” and “mark to whatever.”

- Finally, Gordon Brown’s embarrassment-of-the-day. Billing the government for porn doesn’t fly in the UK. Mea culpa:

That alleged Obama quote is awesome. Is this Yardeni guy reliable or is this just some random newsletter the FT quoted?

Yardeni’s not too whacked, IMO. I’ve seen him quoted in major papers saying sane things – I’d be surprised if he made it up.
