So how many people at Travelers are breathing a sigh of relief today that they’re no longer associated with Citibank? They’ve got the profitable business, a bigger market cap AND their big red umbrella back, so it is hard to imagine how they could be happier. It isn’t all sunshine and lollipops – note the big hurricane losses, investment losses and some provisions for payouts to Madoff investors – but it was enough to send the bears to go sit in the corner.
In other news…
- Citigroup hangs head in shame, decides not to take delivery on the Dassault 7-x after all. Kos says the deposit they put down a couple years ago may be $17.5 mil, which they forefeit if they can’t find another buyer. Pretty sure someone will step in. Anyone at Travelers interested?
- Print your own money, do not go to jail, do collect $200. Similar to corporate scrip, this local currency is the community-building alternative to just straight up doing it Bartertown-style. Props for the William S. Burroughs bill. [h/t to Caroline B]
- MainStreet has a sneak peek at some Superbowl commercials. My favorite: Roethlisberger gets his milk mustache painted on. (Next slide in that slideshow: E*Trade can somehow still afford Superbowl spots, and the trader baby now has a posse.)
- Ponzi the Third: Nicholas Cosmo, in bed with the mob.

Re: Superbowl videos
MainStreet doesn’t mention PETA’s video being “rejected” by NBC, a case of FAIL that’s really WIN!

Oh, so that’s what PETA is up to these days. NBC rejected the AshleyMadison ad too for having too much secks, now that I think about it. What a great way to get press and not have to pay the $2 million.
Here’s the PETA ad in all its glory… warning – this is lingerie-catalogue calibre NSFW:

On a COMPLETELY unrelated note, if anyone is going to be in Springfield, MO about 6:30 tonight, I’m organizing a massive snowball fight in honor of… uhh… the fact that massive snowball fights are made of win?

Yeah, that too.
