No Blankcheck for Blankfein

Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein and six of his most trusted yes-men are expected to join the ranks of the impoverished lower-upper-class next year as they forgo bonuses of any kind and somehow, someway find a way to live on a meager salary of only $600,000 a year.  Blankfein still requires that salary, of course, because he has already spent the entirety of his $70m 2007 bonus and almost had to cut back his visits to Per Se to only three per week.

New York’s Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (ironically, blamed by some for being the unwitting mastermind of the current crisis) is all about the no-bonus idea since companies that don’t make money probably don’t need to reward the management partially responsible for their not making money, for not making money.  This, coupled with Deutsche Bank, et al., cancelling their Chri- er, holiday parties is indicative of a newfound sense of propriety that we here at LOLFed are unaccustomed to seeing from the financial sector, and it frightens and confuses us.
