Bush Speaks on the SRS BIZNEZZ Of Bailouts

OK, I suffered through the speech. Bush delivered pretty much the usual urgent-urgent-emergency-emergency lines, and a weaksauce nod to the formerly free markets.

“We are in the midst of a serious financial crisis and the federal government is responding with decisive action,” Bush said in a televised national address. “I believe companies that make bad decisions should be allowed to go out of business,” Bush said. “Under normal circumstances, I would have followed this course. But these are not normal circumstances.”

This time IT’S DIFFERENT!

Finally, he blamed US for killing the economy if the bailout didn’t come, and soon:

“And, ultimately, our country could experience a long and painful recession,” Bush said. “Fellow citizens, we must not let this happen.”

Really, you won’t get anything out of it, but you can see it at CNBC if you missed it.

I found the speech amusing in how Bush refers to American citizens as consumers first, citizens second.
